Cat Café

So, this is a thing now: Café Chat l'heureux

According to Wikipedia, this type of business started in Taiwan in 1998 and found its way to Japan where the idea took hold and then was exported worldwide.

This particular one will open near my location, and is apparently relying on crowdfunding to get off the ground - a financing method which seems to have some success for this type of commerce.

I wish these guys the best, since not only is this whole animal therapy concept beneficial for some humans, but it is entirely life saving for the stray or abandoned cats that will find themselves the center of attention in this particular venue.

This is one of those times where "I wish I'd thought of it first" comes into play for me.

Granted, I wouldn't have the time to dedicate to such a project, but I could definitely see myself hosting one of these in my later years. Perhaps as a retirement project. Who knows.

The stray cat problem is near epidemic in my area, and for the most part is ignored by the local authorities. There's no political capital to be made, so... For now, my taking care of the neighborhood strays and having that insulated cat shelter on the back balcony will have to suffice.
